This blog is really just for me to rant and rave about the things that I follow. There will no doubt be lots of technical, analytical, theoretical posts, a few psychological (a favorite of mine) and they will all no doubt relate back to some degree to New Media (from my perception at least).
My Story?
Born in the small country town of Wagga Wagga . . . yadda yadda yadda…
I have always had a fascination with the Internet and the overwhelming possibilities it could facilitate. I also have an extreme interest in online startups, their business models, the people and motivations behind them. They are the equivalent of sports superstars in my little world.
I got my start like many people did. The WRONG way.
My first major mistake was that I had a little book of ideas (which can be a dangerous thing). It had all kinds of things that I wanted to develop and launch on the Internet, and I actually thought I could develop them all.
I registered and acquired domain names, sometimes I would get more then one so I had a choice when the time came. Although that story does have a happy ending I would not recommend it to everyone. For myself as someone keenly interested in developing it became a distraction and lead to an extreme loss of focus.
If I could give only one tip it would be to do one thing and do it well. I had actually heard that tip a couple of times before but it did not register until I learnt it the hard way.
I continued my quest to become the best online guru possible. I read articles, blogs, books, you name it I have read, listened or watched it (and if you do feel the need to name it and I haven’t perused it before you can bet I would give it a look over the first chance I get)
I quickly learnt the lesson of focus and that I had a major problem with it. Knowing this now I hope to deliver some fantastic developments in the future. And please, please, please. If you think I have over done it and need more focus I would be more then happy for people to let me know.
Correction: I hope to deliver a fantastic development in the not too distant future.
